Our Philosophy

De Koning Consulting aims to provide design management for Capital Projects with particular focus on the front end engineering stages of the project. The foundation for a successful engineered solution is the development of a user requirement specification that aims to satisfy all stakeholders and is aligned with the business strategy. This translates into a systems specification used to acquire and develop the new equipment and is also used to verify and validate against at the various stages of implementation.

In addition, a process engineering-centered approach will be adopted which leads with the development of the requirements of the production process from which the requirements for the other disciplines  i.e. utilities, control and automation, electrical, civils etc. will spin-off. A total solution will be delivered through collaborative partnerships with multi-disciplinary experts.

The engineering solutions we deliver will take the life cycle of the plant into consideration and therefore principles of optimisation, sustainability, maintainability, operability, total cost of ownership and value engineering will be applied.

The delivery of these services will underpinned by an ethos of professionalism, ethics and a passion for engineering.

DESIGN MANAGEMENT

Conceptualise engineering solutions aligned with the business strategy. Manage quality, consistency and progress of design outcomes across and within different design disciplines for front end of project or from inception to close out..

PROCESS ENGINEERING

Deliver on processing engineering outputs including P&ID generation / verification, equipment specification, process descriptions, functional specifications, lead technical reviews. (Design reviews, HAZOP, Factory Acceptance testing).

CAPACITY MODELLING

Develop a new capacity model or update existing capacity model for the production site/s which will be utilised to identify incremental capacity steps on a brownfield site or new capacity for greenfield site or new production stream. Outcomes to be documented in a technical master plan.

PROCESS OPTIMISATION

Audit existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, provide process engineering and/or design management services (depending on size & complexity) to implement the optimisation.
